In an effort to save many of the details for my final reveal post (going live next week!) this week’s post will be all about how I style bookshelves. I have a few tried and true tricks that will result in that perfectly styled shelf every time, so keep reading to get in on those secrets!
But before I spill the deets I want to share some of the awesome things I scored to style my 2 gold bookshelves in my office!
As you likely know so very well COVID – 19 has really put a wrench in ALL the things. I typically source most of my smaller accessories and “fillers” from local stores, vintage shops and Home Goods. Since all of these were closed up until just this last week I was forced to get a little creative and think outside of the box. However, If you know me at all I looove a good challenge! Bring. it. on! My entire week 5 One Room Challenge blog post was sharing my Facebook marketplace finds and how to score those gems. If you missed that post you can check it out HERE. Between good old Facebook Marketplace and Amazon I was able to style my gold bookshelves just how I envisioned!
I wanted to incorporate many personal touches to this space since it is my home office. The perfect way to do that is by adding your favorite family photos. I started collecting fun frames a while back and they definitely ended up going to good use! I love seeing many of my most memorable treasured moments displayed beautifully on these bookshelves. Definitely keeps me going during those mid day energy crashes!
I scored this blue marbled decorative box from Overstock and it is absolutely perfect for storing my business cards! That agate knob on the top is so so dang pretty!
I found this gorgeous goddess on Amazon! Her name is Diana – the Huntress. Even though I didn’t research her before clicking the “buy now” button… I feel she is (semi) fitting for the wild animal theme I have in many aspects of my office design. My husband and I traveled to South Africa this past January and I have fallen head over heels in love with all of the wild African animals. That might be just a slight stretch….but she still is dang gorg. I got her in the green color – but she also comes in white! I might buy the white one to put in my living room. It is the perfect size – not too big and not too small.
A main priority in my home office design was functional storage. I didn’t want to end up with this beautiful space in the end that just didn’t function how I needed it to! That’s the absolute worst, isn’t it!? I found these adorable white baskets at Target and then purchased clear bins to organize all of my things! Who says organization can’t be cute!? Ammirite?
Alright. Now for the goods. Here is a video explaining my tried and true tips for styling any and all shelves. Seriously…when you break it down like I show you here – you absolutely can’t go wrong! Don’t overthink those dreaded open shelves…watch the video below….hit up your local HomeGoods and your good to go! Tip: I love picking up momentous from trips to use in my shelf styling. You will take your shelf styling to the next level when you have a good mix of those personal items included.
